Graham Douglas...the newest member of Callen's crew!

It's a BOY! We welcomed Graham Douglas to our family on June 27 at 8:24am weighing in at 6 lbs 14 oz and measuring 19 inches in length. He really is our little Peanut!

We had a wonderful birth experience once again with Greenville Midwifery Care. Instead of delivering at the hospital like we did with Callen, we opted to deliver at the Birth Center located across the street from the hospital. For those wondering...this practice of nurse midwives is affiliated with GHS and if something goes wrong during delivery, they can have you on the OB floor at the hospital in less than 7 minutes. We felt very comfortable with our decision to deliver there with the biggest benefit being that we would discharge home eight hours after baby is born. The facility is brand new with the first babies born there last June. There are three birthing rooms, each looking like a hotel room at first glance. As you really look around, you notice the 'medical' influence with supplies in each of the cabinets as well as medical equipment located in the closets outside each room.

We made it to the birth center around 4:45am to find out I was dilated to 4cm. I was given the option to return home and labor or to stay at the facility. Because of Callen being at home and not wanting him to see me in pain, we opted to stay at the birth center. Good thing we did because labor went fast! Less than 4 hours later, Mr. Graham made his way into the world. Like Callen, we had a water birth. I was able to help bring him to my chest after he was born and once again look to find out the gender. I was convinced we were having a girl, so it was a HUGE surprise when I looked and saw male anatomy! All I could say was "It's a boy! That is not what I was expecting at all!!!' I even took a second look to make sure I saw correctly.

He's here

Getting weighed

We were able to bring Callen in to see Graham about an hour and a half after delivery. Cal spent about 10 minutes alone with his brother and us before bringing the rest of the family back. Based on everyone's clothing in the pictures, I'm thinking most everyone was on Team Pink...pretty sure they were all surprised too!

A little hesitant to come in the room

So happy to meet his brother

All Callen wanted to do was give Peanut a hat. We bought pink and blue hats...Cal comes in the room and pulls out the blue hat right away. He must have known something all along!

Sweet kisses

Everyone finding out we had a BOY! Lots of surprised faces

Our midwife Barbara. She delivered Cal and has a special place in our hearts. To say we were thrilled to learn she was coming in at 7:00am the day I went into labor is an understatement. We couldn't have been happier to have her there to help deliver Graham. Whenever I saw her at appointments, she would tell me that she wanted to deliver our baby. So I would say we were both happy to see each other!

Family left around lunch and allowed Doug and me time to rest. It was so peaceful at the birth center since we were the only ones there. The midwife had left to go to the hospital for a delivery, so there was only a nurse who came in every few hours to check vitals. Other than that, it was quiet and relaxing...just what we needed before coming home to big brother and a house full of family!!

More family waiting on us at home
Graham is such a good baby so far. He is eating well and sleeps a lot of the time. He is showing signs of more alertness throughout the day, but overall loves his sleep. Big brother thinks Graham is the greatest, and wants to hug and kiss him as much as he can.
