Carolina Panthers Football Training Camp

The Carolina Panthers have had their training camp at Wofford College since their inaugural season in 1995. It's one of those things that I know is going on, but have never put any thought towards going. Doug mentioned it to me the other day, so I thought it would be a great activity for Cal and me. He loves all sports with 'ball' in their name! I also thought it would be a good trial run to see how he does at a football 'game' before going to Clemson football games pretty much every Saturday during the fall.

Well, it was a bust! Cal was all excited to be going to see 'ball' with Pa. Each time I asked Cal where we were going, he would say 'ball' and act like he was throwing a football. I was so optimistic that he would sit (or even stand) to watch the practice. Not so much...as soon as we got there, he was out of the stroller and running around. He was much more interested in throwing the ball down the hill or into the bushes. He also enjoyed pulling the flowers off the bushes. After running into every group of kids and adults that walked by us, I was ready to leave! It was super hot and he was having no part in watching football. With the bribe of a snack, he sat down and watched what was going on for about 3 seconds before he was up and running around again!!!! Overall it was a good time spending time with my dad and Cal, but I don't think I will bring Cal back for a few more years...when he can actually watch and enjoy the football.

Stopping for a brief moment to eat a snack
Running down the hill...

Running up the hill...over and over!
Please put me down Pa. I have some running to do!

We did get to see Cam Newton (in the red)

I'm not sure what is going to happen during tailgate season this year. I say tailgate season because I am pretty sure we won't be seeing many football games, so we will have to enjoy tailgates only!

If you want to check out training camp, they are practicing the rest of this week and most of next week. They actually scrimmage the Miami Dolphins twice next week before they play them in a preseason game.

Captain Callen Turns 2!

Where has the time gone? How is Cal already 2 years old?

Here are some pictures from Callen's big day!

We took him to Jones Gap in the morning to 'hike' a little and then play in the water. Cal mainly enjoyed throwing the rocks and then climbing on the big rocks and pretending he was 'tall.'

After lunch and a nap, it was time to party! To help celebrate his special day, we had family over for a small party. We did a nautical theme with a low country boil for dinner. It was great having everyone together (except for a few that couldn't be here), and even more fun to see how much fun Cal had. He definitely enjoyed himself more than last year. He had fun opening gifts...as well as playing with them. He thought the cupcakes were great, and ate every last bite compared to last year when he wouldn't even touch the icing!

Future Bartender?

By the end of the night, Callen had a tip jar with several dollars in it!

Just what every 2 year old needs...a chainsaw

Building a fort (mommy and daddy's present to Cal...fort making supplies!)

This might be worth taking a bit of...

Oh yea it is

Why don't mommy and daddy let me eat this more often?

That's why!
Thanks so much to all the family for coming and celebrating with us. Cal had a great day and enjoyed spending time with each of you. Thanks for your generosity...Cal is enjoying every single one of his gifts!!
Doug and I are excited to see what adventures the next year holds for Callen. We have so much fun with this little guy and can only imagine the fun...and trouble... he will get into over the next 12 months!!!
